Land Raider - Arsenal

Description

OK, here is the story: a friend of mine plays Space Marines (Ultra Marines) and bought a cheap Land Raider Crusader from a friend.

This so very cheap Land Raider Crusader wasnt only cheap, it was heavily messed up and some parts have been lost in the warp. My friend was sad and didnt know what to do. He took in consideration to glue the whole thing together to one big, ugly brick...

But he waited and his birthday came. I begged for the Land Raider for some "minor repairs" - I told him, that I could make a new bar, which makes the doors swing open synchronal (one of the many missing parts).

He gave it to me with not much hope, that anything could be rescued...

I ripped the tank appart and grinded away any remains of glue. Then I made a new bar for the doors and took a bavarian meditation on how to make the weapons removable. 4 Days and 36 bottles of fine beer later, I ordered the Crusader plastic sprue from GW, 50 mini magnets (1.0x2.0mm and 1.5x3.0mm) from my favourit discounter and threw the tin weapons of the crusader into my modding box, because of the problem, that tin weapons are way too heavy for poor tiny magnets.

Than I began to drill alot of holes:

Every weapon has one magnet in its side - only the storm bolter system has two. The tank has now 2 magnetic hatch-hardpoint and 4 different hatches to use. Two are empty except for a magnetic hardpoint. 2 Hatchweapons can be put in there (bolter and rocketlauncher), or 2 closed hatches (one with an additional hardpoint on the top), or one spezial character.
Another hatch has open doors and a fixed torso, and a second is equiped with the melter.

The Tank itselfe has 4 Hardpoint for equipment like searchlights, parabol antennas, vox antenna and smokelauncher and 2 hardpoints for some nasty shrapnellaunches at the tracks.

Alltogether it contains 49 Magnets (not counted any doubled magnets for better stability) and no, it doesnt stick to the fridges' door!

;)

P.S.: and the best thing: I dont have to paint it ^^

Beautiful idea mate! I'll have to try and make this myself along with doing the same to every other vehicle I got!
